Panels are a means to consult a specific sample of the greater target population, which might be from a geographic area, or a customer base. If regular consultation of a representative sample is required then this method offers a cost effective technique, as there is no need to recruit a new sample each time. The information gathered can be used to track behaviour, to find out views or opinions. The panel can be consulted using any research method, although those most commonly used are postal or web-based surveys and ad hoc qualitative exercises. |
